Stillness from Om

We dressed 30 people like monks. Long felt saffron coloured robes, each adorned with trims and buttons a different way, barefeet and a tall phalic shaped, high pile hat with wing flaps. They all sat on floating carpets. The monks were instructed to bow forward and backward in synchronization. There was trouble with this task, so the ring leader got on the microphone and started chanting Om. If there's any way to get 160 people in one huge sound stage to be quiet, it is (as I've learned) to use the word Om. In an industry full of stress, attitude, misfits and politics, and in an industry based on ticket sales, there was calm, grace and maybe for one minute, meditation. The director got us all to chat with them, "Om Vey". 160 people chanting while at work, not knowing what was happening. What a wonderful day :)
