Your Grandad
When he was born, he was born in the middle of the ocean off the coast of Japan on the SS Marine Linx. They named him "Strong Ocean" in chinese. There was another boy born on the same ship one day after. They later became pen pals for a while. His baby pictures look like me when I was a baby. He grew up teaching himself how things work. He also built things out of wood which he learned at the local Boys' Club in Strathcona. During Chinese school he would sneak down the fire escape to buy fries that were so greasy that the paper bag they came in was transparent. He would steal his father's car when he was thirteen and so started the obessesion with cars. In 1971 he started writing to a girl in Hong Kong. His letters were thoughtful and kind. He was the best pool player ever. He liked to sing. He was a postman. He studied accounting. He was very organized; there was a method to his madness. He'd tell me stories of shows he went to at the Garden. And later when he passed away, I found out that nobody else ever heard those stories. He was funny always making jokes. This is your Grandad.
